… Jean Pierre Nshimyimana who was born in Muhoza Rwanda and has enrolled in the Masters in Civil and Environmental Engineering Class of 2009 has big ideas on the development of entrepreneurship in environmental engineering in Africa. His business "will provide superior services, designs and knowledge that will be able to supply a wide range of water engineering solutions to community-based initiatives." He recalls with a sense of destiny how he found his way into the program.
A graduate of the Kigali Institute of Health, Jean Pierre was already involved in the design and implementation of water and sanitation projects in Rwanda. A chance meeting with Dr. Peter Shanahan of the MIT Engineering Faculty on a volunteer assignment in his country led the 27-year old water and sanitation specialist to apply and be accepted for the Legatum fellowship…
